Quality of Life

Festivals and Community Events

Maintaining the City’s heritage is important. The City is proud to host five large events throughout the calendar year that celebrate Schertz and the community who makes it. Generations have come to expect a friendly atmosphere, great entertainment, community participation and a good time for all who visit our annual events:   Wilenchik Walk for Life, Jazz N’ Blues in the Park, 4th of July Jubilee, SchertzFest, Festival of Angels and the City of San Antonio’s epic weekly celebration Fiesta in which the whole south-central region participates.

Parks and Recreation

Schertz is currently served by a system of parks and recreational facilities which provide opportunities for a range of activities for both residents and visitors. Schertz is home to many of our regional recreational program including Buffalo Valley Youth Association (BVYA), Schertz’ local YMCA, Schertz Senior Center, and the Greater Randolph Area Youth Soccer Association (GRAYSA). Continuing growth in our community has allowed the need for many new facilities and additions including Schertz Skate Park, Dog Park, the new regional Schertz Soccer Complex  with 12 regulation-sized fields and the forthcoming community natatorium to our local YMCA facility.
