Business Retention and Expansion Program

Much of a community’s new wealth and job creation comes from existing businesses.  The SEDC maintains a Business Visitation Program called the Business Retention and Expansion Program.  The program helps Schertz identify its strengths and weaknesses and provides equal opportunity for both small and large businesses to participate in the economic renewal process.

The BREP uses economic development staff and board members to survey existing businesses to obtain information to help the city and SEDC guide resource allocation for greater private investment and job retention and expansion.  The visitation teams schedule an appointment with a principal in the company and confidentially interview for approximately 45 minutes.  The data is then analyzed and filed in the aggregate with other businesses’ responses.  The results are delivered to city leadership on a quarterly basis, and staff then develops strategies to address the most pressing issues.

The SEDC encourages participation amongst its businesses. If you would like to be scheduled for a BREP visit, please contact us and staff will contact you within one business day to schedule an appointment.
