Schertz also has a many of its own recreational facilities, giving Schertz residents nearly immediate access to numerous entertainment, outdoors, and cultural enrichment activities.

There are 18 parks in Schertz, with playgrounds, picnic areas, athletic fields and courts. The city’s junior Olympic-sized pool is open to the public during the summer months and a community center offers classes and activities. The Buffalo Valley Youth Association, a non-profit organization, offers sports programs year round, including baseball, softball, football, cheerleading, basketball, swimming, and volleyball. The brand new 30,000 square-foot Schertz Public Library is the second-largest Public Library facility in the San Antonio region, and construction is underway on an equally impressive recreation center adjacent to the Library, serving the recreational and educational needs of a rapidly-growing community. The city is also home to the Northcliffe Golf Club, situated on the city’s northern edge along IH 35.
