What’s In This Profile?

The Retail Focus Profile covers a range of topics, beginning with an overview of the local retail industry in Schertz region and its recent uptick in activity. Profile Highlights

  • Northwest San Antonio – and the Schertz area in particular – has seen multiple retail tenants expand their presence in the market. EVO Entertainment Group opened their latest state-of-the-art 73,000 square foot entertainment complex in Schertz in March 2019. Across the street, another theater development owned by Santikos Entertainment, opened in May. These entertainment destinations follow in the footsteps of Swedish furniture giant IKEA, which opened its newest location up the road in February.
  • Population growth is opening up new consumer markets. The San Antonio – Austin Corridor, the 80 mile stretch of Interstate 35 that runs between these two metros and encompasses Schertz, is projected to experience a population boom. With 30% growth expected by 2030, the San Antonio – Austin Corridor has incredible potential for companies looking to locate in the area.
  • Electronics & Appliances, General Merchandise, Sporting Goods, Hobby, Book & Music, and Nonstore Retailers are sub-sectors of the local retail market that present the greatest opportunity gaps.
  • 42% of local consumers within a 10 minute drive time of Schertz own at least one dog, while 22% own at least one cat. This is just one interesting insight gained from this report’s pyschographics – details on consumers that go beyond basic demographic data and ask “why” consumers act in certain ways.
