Residential development at the Crossvine will include traditional single family homes, garden homes, town-homes, multifamily clusters, and independent and assisted living facilities. The project will integrate commercial areas comprised of neighborhood services, retail, municipal, and medical uses.

Randolph Air Force Base, located adjacent to Schertz, serves as headquarters for both the Air Education and Training Command (AETC) as well as the Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC).
