The Industrial Market is Thriving in Schertz, TX!
The first industrial park coming online will be Park 35, and you may have already seen their billboards on IH-35 going north and south, marketing the property. Freeport Tax Exemption
According to the Texas Comptroller, a freeport exemption applies to goods, wares, ores and merchandise and to aircraft or repair parts used by a certificated air carrier. The goods must be in Texas for assembly, storage, manufacturing, repair, maintenance, processing, or fabrication. Eligible goods must be transported out of Texas within 175 days of when they were acquired, manufactured, or brought into Texas.
TWC Holds GRACE Conference to Highlight the Benefits of Being a Second Chance Employer

Schertz EDC Pursues Opportunities at Select USA
As a member of the Texas delegation, Schertz EDC staff was able to greet foreign businesses interested in opening a business in Texas. Over the 3 days, more than 300 contacts and prospects expressed real interest in opening or expanding their business in Texas. Over 4,500 participants visited the summit both in person and virtually making this year’s event the largest summit in history.

Hollingsworth Logistics Expands Opportunities for Their Prolific Workforce
Classes are provided by certified instructors from Alamo Community College, at no cost to the employer or the student. Classes are held on-site at Hollingsworth’s training center twice a week. This gives employees from all three shifts an opportunity to attend on their own time.
NEW PARTNERSHIP BRINGS CRITICAL MEDICAL SERVICES TO THE SCHERTZ COMMUNITY
The ASC is a joint venture between United Surgical Partners International (USPI) and a group of physician investors. USPI operates the largest ambulatory platform in the country and is a subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare, parent company of Baptist Health System. The ASC will have three operating rooms and one procedure room, and will focus initially on musculoskeletal surgeries, expanding to additional surgical specialties over time.

I-35 Northeast Expansion (NEX) to Result in Decreased Transit Times
TXDOT plans to embark on a $1.51 billion-dollar IH-35 expansion that will help increase transit times by up to 48% and expand traffic lanes from 4 lanes to 7 lanes utilizing elevated lanes this summer. The northernmost project that extends from FM 3009 to FM 1103 alone will cost approximately $430 million.
SCUC ISD Job Shadow Day 2022 | Connecting Students to Opportunities
