‘Tis the season for job fairs!  April provided many workforce recruitment opportunities ranging from a Senior Job Fair at Samuel Clemens High School to a Regional Job Fair hosted by Seguin, New Braunfels, and Schertz EDCs.

By attending the Regional Job Fair, job seekers were exposed to hundreds of openings in entry, intermediate and advanced-level positions in a variety of industries, including government, healthcare, education, retail, and more. Many employers conducted on-site interviews and extended employment offers during job fair hours.

Workforce recruitment and retention continues to be an ongoing obstacle for businesses. Job Fairs give employers the opportunity to skip ahead in the recruitment process by immediately meeting with job seekers face to face, asking/answering questions, and extending offers all in one place.

One of our main priorities at the Schertz Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) is to identify the obstacles our local companies have with recruitment and retention and get feedback on their experiences. This way, the SEDC can provide direction and connect primary businesses with appropriate resources that adequately meet their needs, and/or use the feedback from primary businesses to implement a program to provide some sort of respite or solution. Job fairs are one of many means of talent recruitment that the SEDC can assist with.

“With a shortage of labor, employers are having to spread themselves thin in the pursuit of new talent,” said Casey Moeller, Business Engagement Manager for the SEDC. “It is my goal to be available to represent the Schertz primary employers at recruiting events with the intent to relieve some of the pressure from the Human Resource and Talent Acquisition teams.

The SEDC also partners with local organizations to help create, sustain, and retain a skilled workforce. Click here to learn more about our workforce partner organizations.
