On Thursday, May 11th, the Schertz Economic Development Corporation (Schertz EDC), Cibolo Economic Development Corporation (Cibolo EDC), Seguin Economic Development Corporation (Seguin EDC) and the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, hosted their second Regional Job Fair of 2023.
This free event took place at the Cibolo Family YMCA, located at 176 FM 78, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. It featured approximately 65 employers ready to hire job seekers with a diverse range of skills. We saw an attendance of over 170 people looking to find employment in our region, that’s 60+ more than our previous job fair in February.
Job seekers attending the event found hundreds of openings in entry, intermediate and advanced-level positions in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, government, healthcare, education, retail, and more. Some employers were able to conduct onsite interviews and attendees were given an opportunity to take free headshots for their professional portfolios and LinkedIn accounts.
“Our regional job fairs give our local employers increased opportunities to connect and engage with interested and qualifying participants.” said Ashley Ritchey, Business Engagement Manager for the Schertz Economic Development Corporation.” We saw a major spike in participants, not only on the employer side, but in job seekers, so we hope our employers who did not register for the event, can join us at the next one.”
This collaborative effort between New Braunfels, Seguin, Cibolo and Schertz, is one of many channels of talent recruitment that local EDCs can assist with to help employers securing the talent necessary for their businesses to thrive
